class="style16"> Timelapse 360 Degree Pan
Published : 21st September 2009
I am currently working on a project which requires a 360 degree timelapse pan to be shot over 24 hours in Sheffield, UK in September. Is there anyone with helpful advice for this shot and/or who may be able to help out around September 22/23rd? We will be shooting on Super 16 with an Aaton xtr+ but also need some type of electronic Moy head which will turn once over 24 hours (extremely slow!!!)
All help/comments would be much appreciated.

If you cannot find a suitable product, I have a friend who will build you a rig for that. He is specialist UK Based tech/modelmaker/engineer on big features (Bond, Star Wars etc). If you are unable to get a commercial product to do this, please contact me.

I have done something very similar a couple of times in the past. For one we motorised an Akeley gyro head. It worked very well. It wasn't 24 hours but sunrise to sunset. We used a large wind up clock mechanism to drive the Akeley.
A second time, we used a commercial turntable with an electric motor. If you go the turntable route, I suggest you get in touch with the British Turntable Company. The only info I have on them is that they're in Bolton, and they are extremely helpful and have lots of turntables.

Hot gears with laptop software program is capable of doing this. Mo/sys which is made in the UK should be capable of doing this.
