David Leitner talks about shooting his recent feature using a Sony A7Siii:
“There were a number of lessons learned (perhaps re-absorbed) in the run-up to, and production of, our film. We tried to harness state-of-the-art capabilities in service of the film’s low budget. Some things worked, others not so much. We shot with an A7S III mostly at 12,800 ISO. We intended to shoot mainly with an A1, but that got ditched at the last minute for a reason. Was autofocus useful? Did we make the right choice of camera? We can discuss the foibles of autofocus using high ISOs. We shot everything with six Sony primes: 24mm f/1.4 GM, 35mm f/1/8, 50mm f/1.2 GM, 85mm f/1.8, 90mm f/2.8 Macro G, 135mm f/1.8 GM. All captured as 4K ProRes to a Ninja V. No stabilizer on this shoot, only a Fisher 11 dolly. On MDF dance floor, no less.”
Afterwards, a brief discussion of COVID-19 as the Delta variant advances.
